Where: Esch-sur-Alzette is a town in Luxembourg, the capital of the canton of the same name. It is, after Luxembourg City, the second largest town in the country, with about 34,000 inhabitants.

It is nowadays the centre of a large commercial activity. Because of its border location, the municipality has many communication routes, including the A4 (and its "extension", the B40 motorway) and A13 motorways, and is crossed by two national roads, the N4 and N31.

Esch-sur-Alzette is an important railway junction due to its geographical location and its iron and steel past, and is thus connected to the capital, to all the communes of the Terres Rouges and to neighbouring France. It has two stations open to travellers: Esch-sur-Alzette station and the more recent Belval-Université station built in the 21st century in connection with the reconversion of the Esch-Belval district.

Why: Charmingly renovated house in 2007 with a fireplace insert installed in 2016, situated in a quiet street with plenty of parking space. It is ideal for young families with children at the nearby primary school. The indoor swimming pool in Esch-sur-Alzette is less than 7 minutes walk away.
